Travel & Stay
How to get there
If you are flying into Milan from MXP or LIN, you have multiple options to get to Laglio. As a reminder, the welcome dinner begins Friday night at 7:00PM at La Locanda del Cantiere in Laglio.
Option 1: Trains + Taxi (More budget friendly option, recommended only for those who have traveled abroad before and taken trains, those who are taking time to stop and stay a night in Milan first, and only if you are arriving Thursday or early Friday and have ample time to get to Laglio)
If you are flying into MXP: The easiest and most reliable way to get from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Milano Centrale Train Station is the Malpensa Express train, which offers a direct, 51-minute trip. Tickets are around €15, with departures every 20-30 minutes.
Malpensa Express Train Details
Station: Located in Terminal 1 (lower level) and Terminal 2.
Duration: Approximately 51 minutes to Milano Centrale.
Hours: Trains run frequently (146 daily trips)
Purchase: Tickets can be bought at the station, on Malpensa Express site, or via tap-to-pay at the turnstiles
If you are flying into LIN: The fastest and most direct way to get from Milan Linate Airport (LIN) to Milano Centrale station is by shuttle bus or taxi.
Shuttle Bus: ~25 minutes €5–€10 Direct, departs from Stop 1 outside the arrivals hall.
Taxi: ~15–20 minutes €20–€40, metered fares
Once you have arrived at Milano Centrale Train station, you will take the train to Como San Giovanni. The trains run frequently, with approximately 17-40 trains daily, roughly one every 25–30 minutes during peak times. The train is a direct 40 minute journey. Train tickets are approximately €20 and can be purchased on Italiarail or Trenitalia. We advise booking these ahead of time.
Upon arriving to Como San Giovanni, there is a taxi line directly outside the station. You simply wait in line for the next taxi to arrive and give them your hotel name. It is ~20 minutes to Laglio, €30–€50.
Option 2: Private direct car transfer (Recommended for those who would like a seamless experience upon arrival, those traveling with ample luggage, if you are short on time, or if Option 1 sounds overwhelming to you!)
This is a 45 minute drive and costs €180. You would be picked up from the airport and dropped off at your hotel. Please let us know if you would like this option by filling out this survey. We will connect you with the hotel directly to arrange this. You’re also welcome to take a taxi directly from the airport to Laglio. It should typically be a similar price, but we cannot guarantee if the rate will be higher.
In the survey, you also have the option to note your airport and arrival time, and if you are open to splitting a cab with other guests if they are arriving around the same time as you. Once we compile this, we will share it with those who are interested.
Option 3: Rent a car from the airport (Recommended for those who are comfortable driving abroad and who would like the flexibility, especially if you are taking a longer trip through Italy after and don’t want to take trains)
If you are staying at La Locanda del Cantiere: there is free onsite parking for guests.
If you are staying at Albergo Diffuso Ca' Spiga: There are no on-site parking spaces, but several free public parking areas are located a few minutes' walk from the hotel, and a private garage rental is available close to the accommodation for €10 per night. Please let us know if you plan to stay here and rent a car, so we can assist you in coordinating with the hotel.
A few notes below for rental cars:
There are many rental car companies available at the airports (pre-book your reservation)
You must get an International Driving Permit to drive in Italy. The process is very simple and costs $20. Apply here at the IDP website.
Be sure to rent an automatic car if you don't drive manual, as a manual is more common in Italy.
Include your flight number on the reservation in case of delays or changes, so that they will know when to expect you and don't cancel your reservation.
Check that there is no limit on distance traveled, or if there is, that it will be enough for your trip.
The accommodations for the wedding weekend are two boutique hotels in very close walking distance to the venue. We have stayed at both hotels and have more information about them below for your comparison. We are pre-paying for the hotel rooms and payment can be sent to Scott via venmo or zelle.
